Score!

Let me tell you about my Target score.... Target is running a promotion where you can buy certain snack items 4 for $9 and when you purchase 4 items you get a FREE $5 gift card! This is really great! So here is my breakdown:

  • 2- 12ct boxes of Pop-tarts (breakfast?)
  • 2-8ct boxes of Rice krispies treats (for Williams snack at preschool)
  • 1-6 ct Special K bars (for me)
You only have to buy 4 items, but I bought 5 because I have a Kellogg rebate form where you can get $10 back (however I miss read it you have to buy 10 items and I thought it said $10 worth of items....o-well better luck next time). I also used:
  • 2-target coupons for .50 off Pop-tarts
  • $1 off 2 pop-tarts from Kellogg insert in paper
  • $1 off 2 rice krispies treats from Kellogg insert
  • $1 off special K product from Vocal point packet in mail
My out of pocket total was around $7 and I got a $5 gift card!! So really I spent a whole $2!!!!! Thought I should pass this along for those of you who might be interested. I think I am going to go again and spend my $5 gift card and get some other items and hopefully get another $5 gift card in return :)

I'm back!

Sorry I have not posted anything in awhile. I went home (Arkansas) for 2 weeks. I had no computer or Internet connection for that matter. It was a nice get away. I am glad to say I got a lot done. I got new carpet in all of my bedrooms. I got rid of some things. I am re-doing Williams room. I did not get his new furniture (our old bedroom furniture) painted yet. Our bedroom is cleaned out and ready for our new furniture that sits in our garage in Houston. I can't wait to put up our cherry sleigh bed!! I still have lots to do when I return in September. Till then I have lots of shopping to do to finish off the kids rooms. I am not sure what sparked this home makeover, but it is keeping me busy! I have so many ideas! I will post pictures when all is done (several months from now). I also promise to start posting pictures and etc. SOON!

Astros vs Cubs

Only 43,+++ thousand fans!
Little guy, Big fan!
Astros are number #1!
(Morgan looked like a misfit, I could not find her any Astro gear) We all had a great time! Game started at 7 and afterward we watched fireworks and best of all the Astros WON!

Arrrr!!

Meet Jack William Sparrow! I found a clearance deal on a Pirate of the Caribbean play set (came with sword, ring, head wrap, belt, and treasure map). William has enjoyed acting and playing pirates. I can't help but laugh when he puts on the bandanna with the dreads! His language cracks me up too...."Walk the plank matey!" For some reason he always wants me to be the bad pirate that drowns :(

All For The Cows!!

Today (July 11th) was Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A! If you wore a costume you got a free meal! Since we live so close I could not resist FREE food! I came up with costumes for both kids with things from around the house.Little one wore a decorated medium brown paper bag. The front read "I Luv Chikin". She made it inside, through the line, and then ripped it off when she got to the booth. So needless to say I did not get a good photo. You get the idea though! Cow number #2 wore a white shirt with cow spots cut out from black construction paper and cow ears (yeah, hope i never see a cow with ears like these..haha) attached to his visor. He made noises for the full effect. Both of the kids meals were FREE and somehow my husband and I each got a combo for a total of $7 and some change. I think we got another discount. I know that if you just wore a bell or something small you got a free entree, but we did not participate. THANKS CHICK-FIL-A!!

A new look at food!

Well, tomorrow marks the first week of decreasing William's meds. So far, so good. Still having some emotional issues (crying, whining, aggression, etc). We have had one good whole day where William was so affectionate constantly hugging and kissing ... I loved it but after a whole day of it I was annoyed! Hyperactivity seems to be somewhat better though. I have started William on a diet per say, I came across a diet used for children with ADHD called Feingold's Diet. Supposedly the artificial colors used in foods is connected with increasing hyperactivity in children. This diet/plan also improves a lot of other conditions as well, such as eczema. So basically what I am doing is cutting out foods with artificial coloring, high fructose corn syrup, and other chemicals. If you have ever read food labels, there is a lot of junk in certain foods, pretty scary! He can't even have certain fruits and veggies! I have not dove into this all the way yet, as I have lots of stuff in the pantry and fridge that I am not going to just throw away, so we (my family) will finish off the stuff that I once thought was good for us. This is not just a change in eating for William as Morgan and I will also change our eating habits as well. Hopefully, this will clear her eczema up (which is already much better). Eczema is an allergy that can derive from food allergies! Getting Will (my husband) to change his eating habits will be a little harder, but if the 3 of us are gonna do it, he will have to eat what we eat or starve :) I bought some groceries geared towards this change the other day and it was not much more costly than normal. For example: canned natural veggies where less than a $1 (I bought corn and under ingredients it says, corn and water only) No added sugar, salt, or chemicals!! I also got lots of packaged beans, pasta, and bananas. Organic foods work great into this plan but are more pricey. I am on the lookout for any coupons for organic foods including meats and produce (as these items don't have as much chemicals as non-organic foods). I don't even buy cheap milk anymore (such as the walmart brand) These types of milk are altered ex: homogenized, pasteurized, and etc. William has been drinking soy milk for awhile, but apparently soy is a food to avoid on this diet as it can cause allergies, etc. This diet cuts out a lot of foods that can cause allergies, basically you cut everything out and start from scratch and see what causes reactions in your child. But I am not so much worried about that as I am with decreasing Williams hyperactivity and increasing his attention/ability to focus, however I am somewhat watching to see what foods Morgan eats and how it affects her skin. Anyway, cross your fingers for us as we venture into a whole new world of foods! Pray that this transition will go smoothly and that everyone will adjust! I always thought we ate pretty healthy as we are not junk food types, but even good for you foods are not so good. If anyone wants some more information on what food chemicals to avoid, let me know.

Quick Pic!

Well I tried to get a picture of the 3 of us with my new camera. Not to bad! Morgan kept trying to grab the camera and William kept blabbing. 411: When William wears his hat backwards (like in this picture) he says that makes him "Popular and Cool" (haha). Where he learns this stuff, I have no clue.

Fashion Diva!

After hearing me tell William to get ready to go Little Momma went to her closet and picked out some overalls and put a strap around her neck and went to the door waving and saying "Bye bye". She was ready to go today! She loves getting out and doing stuff (especially shopping)! She sometimes goes to her closet and just looks at her clothes or pulls them off hangers and tries to put them on. I caught her yesterday going through some new clothes that I had hung up: she was pulling on the tags and saying (Ahh and Eww). She is such a girlie girl! She loves her clothes and her shoes!! Maybe I should put dress up clothing on her christmas list??

If the Shoe Fits Wear It!

William spent the afternoon walking around in Will's crocs. He had his own sandles on inside dad's shoes. Too cute! He also wore them on the wrong feet :) I'm sure he will one day fill his dads shoes, but lets not rush it!!

I Can Do It Myself!

Morgan got into her walker all by herself this morning. One problem though, she only got one leg in one of the holes, as you can see the right leg is sticking out. She was happy with her achievement! This kid will try anything once!

Back to Savings!!

Well, I just got back from a visit back home (which was wonderful!) and needed groceries so I went to Kroger's (my favorite grocery store!). They are having a pretty good sale this week. They have several items 10 for $10. (Sorry my picture is distorted, but I am getting a new camera very soon!) I got 37 items for $29.57! That's an average of .80 cents an item (Yahoo!). I saved $16.70 in coupons and Kroger gave me another $12.25 due to their doubling and tripling policy. I saved another $13.48 for using my Kroger card. That's a total savings of $42.43!! I just had to post this for everyone to see that coupons do in deed pay off!! Here are some of the things I got for free or really cheap: 2 cans of glade fragrance aerosol for FREE, they were on sale for .97 a piece and I had 2-$1 off coupons! I got two packages of Barilla whole grain pasta for FREE as well (they were on sale for a $1 and I had 2-.50 off coupons which were both doubled)! I also got a bottle of nestle nesquick for William for FREE (on sale for $1 and had .50 off coupon *again doubled)! I got 2 softsoap hand pumps for .25 a piece (they were on sale for $1 and I had 2-.25 off coupons *doubled to .75 a piece)! Bounty paper towels they were on sale for $1 I bought 5 and used 5 .25 cent coupons in which Kroger's tripled to .75 a piece!! So I got each role for .25 a piece! One last great mention is the McCormick Grill mates seasonings, They were on sale for .89 I used 2-.25 off coupons *doubled to .75 making them almost free! I love some Kroger shopping!!

Very Satisfying!

Oh, does my belly hurt! I ate all of this, Yessiree!! Tonight I cooked steaks (fresh from the meat market that I have been marinating in Montreal steak seasoning & garlic red wine vinegar for the last 2 days), green beans & bacon, brown rice, and rolls. I wrapped the steaks in aluminum foil and poured the remaining marinade on them and baked them in the oven. They were so tender! I mean falling off the bone tender! Needless to say I am very full and very satisfied! We have had a lot of meat lately, so I am going to have to cut back for a couple of days and make some pasta or something. Check back to see what I conger up :)

Delicious!

Last nights menu: Pork chops, baked potatoes (w/ butter & sour cream), fresh broccoli (w/ cheddar cheese), and garlic cheese toast. Will picked up the pork chops at a meat market. They were very thick as you can tell. After putting lemon pepper seasoning on them, I baked them in the oven with the potatoes. I still have 3 left and am looking for a recipe to make stuffed pork chops. Looking for ideas, inspiration, etc. from anyone who has made these or tasted them.

Meet Spongebob!

Our newest addition to our family! Isn't he the cutest little rat, ever? Interesting story on how he joined us. Short version: We were at a crawfish boil where they had an auction afterwards. They had used a couple of rats for a rat roulette game and decided to include them towards the end of the auction. One of the guys from RiceTec gave william the money to bid on the rat. He gave him $20! Big Will was paying out for something he bought and I was holding Morgan so there was no stopping William from running to the front. William became very attached, so there was no letting him go. Next, came the cage and food. He is very friendly and both of the kids love him. Will even holds him some :). I have the privilege of cleaning his cage everyday (fun!).
